The Experience
We fully realise that Talking Tom Cat 2 wasn’t designed for cynical Scrooges such as us but this app is definitely not for those with an attention span longer than your average goldfish. Kids will doubtless be entertained by the slick graphics and funny tone Tom repeats your sentences in, especially when his canine friend Ben farts up the place so Tom speaks in an even more nasal tone.
Once you’ve exhausted throwing your best one-liners and comedic accents through Tom’s vocal chords, there’s really not much else to be done. You can slap Tom in the face, stroke him and get him to randomly pull out a knife and fork but other than this, it’s slim pickings. If you pay an extra 63p, there are a few more humorous actions to download although not enough to really make it worth your while.

Talking Tom Cat 2′s ace in the hole is its ability to record your all your frolics in video form so you can email them to any animal-loving friends in your address book. If you’re really confident in your ability to entertain you can also upload the your clips to Facebook and YouTube. Unless it’s a reel of Tom recalling the Klingon alphabet, we’d imagine it has already been done.
While Talking Tom Cat 2 is far from a bad app, we can’t imagine it’s something you’ll be coming back to very often. As a distraction for small children there’s no doubt Tom should do the trick but we wouldn’t bet on his charms lasting any longer than five minutes tops.
